Why Distinguished Cleaning Partner With Cleaning for a Reason
Some partnerships are just business. But this one is so much more than that. Our partnership with Cleaning for a Reason puts our cleaning services in a different light. And October (Breast Cancer Awareness Month) feels like exactly the right time to talk about it.
What Is Cleaning for a Reason?
Cleaning for a Reason is a nonprofit organization with one clear mission: connecting cancer patients with professional cleaning services at no cost.
Cancer treatment is all-consuming. The appointments, medications, fatigue, and emotional weight of getting through the day. It takes everything.
So, the last thing someone in treatment should have to think about is whether their home is clean.
Cleaning for a Reason takes that off the list entirely.
Through the program, eligible cancer patients are matched with local professional cleaning companies who provide services free of charge. The goal is a clean home, but also having one less thing to carry. One more hour of energy that can go toward healing, resting, and being with the people they love most.
Distinguished Cleaning: Partner Since 2013
We became a Cleaning for a Reason partner in 2013, and we are deeply grateful for this partnership.
Since then, our team has completed more than 185 free cleanings for individuals undergoing cancer treatment right here in Southeast Idaho. Those cleanings have reached more than 80 families in our community.
One Reason Close to Our Hearts: Our Sweet Annette
Annette was a client of Distinguished Cleaning who found us through the Cleaning for a Reason program. She was living with Metastatic Breast Cancer. And in October of 2017, she wrote about what our team meant to her:
"I am grateful for the women who work for Distinguished Cleaning. They have come into my home once a month for the last 3 months. A team of 3 women volunteer their time to come to my house for 2 hours each month and whip my house into shape. They clean every little speck of dust and dirt. What a blessing they have been."
Annette continued receiving cleanings from our team every two weeks for the next 18 months. In April of 2019, just a few months before she passed, she wrote again:
"I am unable to clean my home now and they are a great blessing in my life. When this team of women who come every 2 weeks learned I am dying they hugged me and wept. I was struggling to put my socks on one day and Val knelt down, and with tears streaming down her face, put my socks on. These women don't speak much English, but our hearts speak to one another. Putting my socks on may seem like a small thing, but as I watched Val, and the tears streaming down her face, it felt like the greatest act of love I have ever experienced. Val, I don't speak Spanish, but my heart wants you to know I love you very much."
Annette passed from Metastatic Breast Cancer on July 3, 2019.
We share her words with deep respect and so much gratitude. She trusted us with her home during the hardest season of her life. And we’ll never forget it.
